Microtopping – Seamless elegance and easy cleaning

What is microtopping and why is it so popular?

Microtopping is a decorative concrete or micro-cement suitable for all types of surfaces.. Reasons behind its growing popularity in the world of interior design are:

  • the possibility of application on existing surfaces,

  • fast and easy execution,

  • excellent durability and

  • easy cleaning and maintenance.

Microtopping enables joint- and grout-free surfaces, meaning you can say goodbye to the tedious task of scrubbing bathroom and kitchen tiles. Instead, you can spend your time on something more enjoyable. Here are a few information, to help you keep your microtopping surfaces expertly cleaned.

How to clean microtopping? Regular cleaning without stress

For everyday cleaning a damp cloth or soft bristle broom along with some mild neutral detergent are more than enough. It’s important to avoid harsh chemicals, acids or abrasive cleaners as they can damage the protective layer and affect the appearance of the surface. Using steam cleaners is also discouraged.

On kitchen surfaces, we recommend using neutral, bleach-free cleaners that don’t leave greasy residues. Always wipe up spilled liquids (e.g. oil, vinegar) as soon as possible after cooking and cleaning to prevent possible staining.

Bathroom and shower surfaces will stay spotless with just a little care. It’s essential to regularly wipe down the surfaces in damp areas with a soft cloth. We recommend using anti-limescale cleaners, but only those suitable for delicate surfaces – no acids or abrasive particles are allowed.

For living room and hallway surfaces, use a soft-bristled broom or a vacuum cleaner with a hard floor brush. For wet cleaning, warm water with a few drops of mild detergent is all you need.

Microtopping polishing – how to add shine without the risk?

For added shine, we recommend cleaning the surfaces with a mild, neutral detergent, followed by the application of a dedicated protective coating or microtopping wax. Once dry, the surface can be polished either by hand using a microfibre cloth or by machine with a fine felt pad—avoiding excessive pressure.

When choosing a polishing agent, ensure to use a special formula for the maintenance of microtopping or microcement. Take particular care when using polishes for microtopping in shower cubicles or on other floor surfaces, as they can cause a risk of slips and injuries. In such cases, we recommend a matt or anti-slip protective coating that maintains safety while protecting the surface from moisture and limescale.

Microtoping – practical, aesthetic and durable

Microtopping is not only an aesthetically refined solution for your surfaces, but also an extremely practical choice for those who value durability, elegance and easy maintenance. By following basic cleaning guidelines and occasionally renewing the protective layer, you will ensure that your surfaces remain spotless for years to come.
